Talvimaisemia / Winter wonderland

Meillä on ollut koko joulukuun ja tammikuun lunta, vaikka pääkaupunkiseudulla vasta juuri ja juuri pääsee hiihtämään. On tullut hiihdeltyäkin vähäsen, ja perjantaina ostin uudet sukset, joita testasin kuuden kilometrin ladulla lauantaina. Sukset olivat liiankin pitävät, ja vein ne eilen liikkeeseen takaisin ja he sanoivat vaihtavansa ne uuteen, jäykempään pariin. Mahtavaa palvelua, että sukset saa vaihdettua vaikka on niitä kokeillut! Nyt sitten odottelen tekstiviestiä että milloin uudet sukseni saapuvat tehtaalta.

We've had snow for the whole of December and January, even though Helsinki has been struggling without snow, and apparently some of the crosscountry ski tracks have just opened last weekend when Helsinki got more snow. I have been skiing a few times, and last Friday I bought a new pair of skis. I tested them on a 6 km ski track and they were not gliding well. I took them back to the store yesterday and they will switch them to a stiffer pair. It is excellent service that I can get a new pair even though I've used them. Now I am waiting for my new pair to arrive from the manufacturer, they will send me an sms when they get them.

  

Lauantaina oli ihan mielettömän kaunis pakkassää, ja kävin ulkona vähän kuvailemassa pihapiiriämme.


On Saturday it was a erally beautiful winter day with -10 celcius degrees. I went outside to take a few pictures of the farm.

Olemme käynnistäneet keittiöremonttisuunnittelun, ja nyt päässeet niin pitkälle, että keittiöfirma on valittuna ja asentajia kysellään. Itse remontti tulee ajoittumaan ensi kesään. Ajattelin kirjoitella blogiin remontin etenemisestä, kun en ole koskaan mitään noin isoa remonttia edes seurannut. Keittiön lisäksi remontoimme apukeittiön samaan syssyyn, samalla vaivalla. Nykyinen keittiö on epäkäytännöllinen kasarikeittiö, joka jo repsottaa vähän sieltä täältä.

A kitchen renovation is on the go, and we've chosen the firm that will deliver the new kitchen. Now we are finding people to install the fittings. The renovation will take place next summer. I thought I'd blog about the phases of the renovation because I've never been involved with such a big project. Besides the kitchen, we will renovate the utility room behind the kitchen with the same effort. The kitchen now is from the 80s and very outdated and unpractical.

Remonttia(kin) ajatellen kävin yhdessä piharakennuksessa katselemassa vanhoja tavaroita.

Thinking of the renovation I went to one of the buildings in our yard to look at old stuff.

Yhdessä omenapuussa oli ongelma ja omenat vain mustuivat ja jäivät puuhun.
There was a problem with one of the apple trees and the apples just turned black and didn't fall down.
